Provider Frequently Asked Questions

Baby's Premier was created out of an increasing demand by pregnant women and their families out who want to see their baby before he/she is born without all the elements of a diagnostic scan in a setting that is conducive to the bonding process. We feel confident that with the positive results you see from your patients, due to our level of responsibility and professionalism that you too, will refer your clients to our studio for their non-diagnostic ultrasounds.

Why is an elective ultrasound necessary?
Increasingly in the world of a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer we have been seeing an ever increasing amount of repetitive diagnostic exams done for the sole purpose of satisfying their patients desire to see their unborn baby and reassure them that everything is alright. This often is done at the expense of the patient insurance companies, and our already overbooked and short staffed ultrasound department’s critically important diagnostic schedule. Conversely, due to very conservative providers that believe if there is no existing pregnancy related problems there is no need for an ultrasound. These patients are left to wonder for 40 weeks if their unborn baby will be healthy. Therefore, it seems reasonable that if the medical profession is already providing this service to its patients, that we in the healthcare profession should act responsibly and provide it in the same safe manner, as an elective service chosen and paid for by the client, thus reducing unnecessary healthcare costs and opening the diagnostic schedules for those who truly are ill and in need of diagnostic ultrasound services.

Is the Staff at Baby’s Premiere 3D/4D Ultrasound qualified to provide this service responsibly and safely?
The healthcare professionals of Baby’s Premiere 3D/4D Ultrasound are experienced certified sonographers. These compassionate individuals strongly believe in the positive experiences and life altering changes that occur due to the patient’s ability to witness first-hand the Miracle of Life that grows from within them during an ultrasound. Baby’s Premiere believes that these reassurance scans are beneficial to the patient for various different reasons. Therefore, given the safety of ultrasound, and the expertise of our experienced certified staff, we feel comfortable in saying that we can work with physicians/midwives in providing this type of elective non-diagnostic scan responsibly in a setting that is conducive to the bonding experience the pregnant women and her family desires.

Will the Prenatal Provider be notified of session?
Yes. We feel that the expectant women's physician/midwife is the first step to a healthy pregnancy; therefore, we require that all clients discuss their decision to have an elective ultrasound with their provider and give them an opportunity to address any concerns that they may have. All clients must bring with them the Provider Acknowledgement Form documenting prenatal care before they can participate in our elective ultrasound services.

How long and often can a client come in for an Elective Ultrasound?
All of our packages range from 10 to 30 minutes. This is well under the customary 45 – 60 minutes spent on most diagnostic obstetrical scans in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters at a provider’s office. We also feel that 3 elective scans is a prudent number to satisfy most clients and still be responsible.

What if Baby’s Premiere should find a problem?
As previously stated we do verify that all Baby’s Premiere prospective clients are undergoing prenatal care, thus most of our patients will have already undergone a diagnostic prenatal exam. This substantially reduces the risk of our personnel finding something that has not already been documented. Looking for defects or pathology goes beyond the scope of this exam; however, because our personnel are highly trained, experienced sonographers from the medical field there is the possibility; albeit small, that we may inadvertently discover something new or even overlooked with a client’s previous diagnostic ultrasound exam. When this type of situation arises it will be handled with the same professional restraint typically seen in the diagnostic setting, the area of concern will be discussed with the provider in a confidential manner as not to potentially upset the client, unless otherwise previously stated by the provider.
